Musical Career
I began in the children’s choir at San José de Cabimas Church at the age of 11 as a percussionist and singer, where I discovered my talent for playing other musical instruments such as the Venezuelan cuatro, guitar, drums, and piano.
Later, I became a member of the Lagoven choir in Cabimas as a singer and multi-instrumentalist, contributing to the choir’s accompaniment. I then joined the Lagoven Gaiteros group as a pianist and musical director. Due to the merits and achievements gained from my participation in this group, I transitioned to a famous and internationally recognized Gaita group called V.H.G. (Venezuela Habla Gaiteando). This group comprised professional and renowned musicians, where I served as a pianist, keyboardist, musical director, and arranger for over 25 years, resulting in numerous musical successes and six Gaita of the Year awards, including:
Simultaneously, I was a pianist and keyboardist for “Orquesta Los Blanco,” one of the most important tropical music orchestras in Venezuela and the world, with a musical career spanning over 60 years. I occasionally performed with them from 1995 to 2004, and then permanently from 2004 to the present. This collaboration earned me two “P1” visas to perform and tour throughout the United States and to record and participate in two albums: “International Tours” in 2016 and “Diceselo” in 2007. In 2002, I was a keyboardist and backing vocalist for the internationally acclaimed artist Indio “Pastor López,” with whom I toured Europe (Spain, Germany, and England), as well as throughout Colombia and Venezuela from 2002 to 2003. I was the pianist for “Orquesta Bochiche” from 1993 to 1995.
In 2000, I was a pianist and keyboardist for “Ensamble Samy,” a salsa orchestra featuring the most prominent salsa artists from Zulia State in Venezuela. I also played for “Orquesta Mozambique” in 1995-1996, “Pa que más” Gaita group as musical director, arranger, pianist, keyboardist, and producer from 2015 to 2021, “Rumba Libre Orquesta” in 2000, “Team Gaitero Venezuela” as pianist, musical director, and producer from 2018 to 2021, “Team Gaitero Houston” in 2022, pop band “Six Pack” as pianist and keyboardist from 2015 to 2020, “Julito y su Trabuco” orchestra in 2017, “Orquesta Kirara” from 2008 to 2021, and “Chacho Orquesta” in 2016.
